ŠIFF 2016: the first edition of the festival

The second edition of The Šumadija International Film Festival (SIFF) was held from 14 to 17 December, 2017. During its lifetime, audience of Šumadija district, had the chance for watching 12 feature-length films, from 10 different European countries, as well as nine short domestic films, mainly copyright works of students, of the Faculty of Dramatic arts. Festival was ended on Sunday nigh, at December 17,  2017 and announce the festival winner, a German  film "Lavirint Lying" .

 

German director of Italian origin Giulio Ricciarelli was awarded a prize of the Šumadia International Film Festival, for the winning film debut in the feature-length film selection achievements.  The awarding ceremony was held at the Goethe Institute in Berlin and on this occasion the Director, thanked the organizers the Festival and especially Kragujevac audience, whose votes decided that the German historical drama "Labyrinth of lies" is the best film of the festival, held in December.

 

The "Lavirint Lying" is the debut of Giulio Ricarelli, who deals with the conspiracy of prominent German institutions and government branches, to cover up the crimes of Nazis, during World War II. The action takes place in Germany sixties, and the story follows a young and courageous prosecutor, who is determined to bring to justice Nazi war criminals, although everything turned against him. This is another in a series of awards, for the film that was also a German Academy Award nominee. 

The Montenegrin comedy "The Books of Knjige: Cases of Justice" was also featured on the festival repertoire, and the guest was the director of the film, Zoran Marković Zonjo, who after the film talked with the audience.

In addition to the main program, the SIFF also had a comprehensive accompanying program. Extremely visited and interesting was the panel named "My First Film", where respected Serbian director, Radivoje Raša Andrić, spoke about his beginnings and career. 

The youngest fellow citizens had the opportunity to learn more about film art at the "Small Film " workshop, organized by NGO "Filmkultura". During the Workshop, participants were filmed their first shots and scenes.

Besides, the Cultural Centre UMMUS had rich musical program  after the film screenings .
